HONDA HOLDS BACK ON COMMENTING ON TRUMP THREAT

Donald Trump's twitter tirade against Canadian Prime Minster Justin Trudeau over the weekend also contained a threat to impose punishing tariffs against the Canadian automobile industry.
Trump repeated the threat today (jun 12) in Singapore.
Honda Canada, based in Alliston, is the biggest private employer in Simcoe County.
The spin off effects, including local parts manufacturers, could mean consequential losses to South Simcoe economy if crippling tariffs are imposed.
myFM reached out to Honda for comment.
They would not comment on air because they believe to do so would be premature and speculative, but said in a release Honda Canada continues to follow the latest developments.
They added in 2017, they built a little over 400,000 units in Alliston, sold approximately 100,000 of those in Canada and exported the remainder to the U.S..
